After a busy few weeks and a lot of issues importing the footage, I’m finally ready to post my second Wizards Unite video. In this one, I share my impressions on the Wizards Unite Brilliant Event, which is sure to be the first of many.

A Newbie’s take on the Brilliant Event

So without further ado, here is the video.

A few things worth mentioning

What I enjoyed:

  • The time frame. Long enough for most casual players to make their way through the four parts.
  • The missions, which were attainable (unlike other Harry Potter games. Not pointing any fingers, Hogwarts Mystery…)
  • The graphics, with their lovely new shade of purple down to the spells cast.
  • The Foundables. Even the log-topus brilliant.
  • Really useful rewards, especially Profesion Books
What could be improved

  • A more stable Trace Ratio (lots of event traces on day one, barely any on day two, seemed to settle somewhere in between the following days, and quite a few in the last day or two).
  • Issues with Portkeys not logging distances properly.
  • Not enough keys to run simultaneous Portkeys.
  • Runestones were easy to miss, they had almost the same colour as Oddities Runestones.
  • It was unclear where to find each of the Registry items. Many people were left wondering why they could only find traces for unicorns and hippogriffs on the map.

And that’s a wrap

Hope you enjoyed the event and learnt a thing or two so you can be better prepared for the next one. I know I did!

Did you finish the event tasks and complete the Registry? Did you have trouble with something we didn’t mention? Or especially enjoyed another aspect of the Event? Let us know in the comments!

I think this first Event exceeded my expectations when I migrated over from Pokemon Go, it was way more interesting, and had a clear goal that I could aim for by myself.

Whereas in Pokemon go, the special tasks require dedication, and things like "Catch Ditto" which all comes down to luck. Their community events are all about Lucking upon a Shiny, and their raid events require a group of people to participate.

I managed to complete everything within a few hours, but I can appreciate that the length was there to accommodate pretty much everybody, and hope they continue this kind of timeframe.

Whilst the shiny purple registry entries were awesome, it irks me very slightly that the Unicorn and Hippogriff were literally just re-skins of their regular counterparts.

I didn't have any issues with PortKey distance logging, or at least not that I noticed, but I think you have a point with the keys. The Keys are expensive and only one-time use, I think they should have Bronze keys that are usable once, and silver keys that are usable multiple times, but that's just me.

When it comes to not knowing where the Foundables can be located, I'm torn, sure for the sake of efficiency and progress, we want to know exactly what, where and how to obtain them, however why should they spoons feed us all the information?

They gave us Spawns, Tasks, Runestones, and Portkeys, we didn't have to do anything special to complete the registry, just take part in the content they released, and you will find them all.

Hand-Holding in video games nowadays, whilst making it accessible to more people, loses some of its mystery and excitement, I too wondered where to find some of the registry entries; they weren't appearing on the map, are they just rare? And then my portkey popped and low and behold, I discovered my next goal, unlock more portkeys.

I think they did a really good job with this Event, me being selfish just wishes there even more to collect and complete, but I'm excited for what's to come, and hope to some day have the option to become a death eater, and destroy all you Ministry fools!
