New features in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite means new guides here on Wizards Unite Hub! I’ve teamed up with Plotter101 to put together the ultimate guide on Aragog, just in time for the Aragog Adversaries Event. Stay tuned for future detailed guides on all Wizards Unite Adversaries.

Aragog in Wizards Unite

Aragog is the 5th Adversary in the Challenges Registry of Feared Adversaries. Going down the list, each Adversary is more difficult. This is why the HPWU developers recently updated the HP of Aragog and his Guards. The original HP was identical to Slytherin’s Basilisk, the Adversary listed above Aragog in the Registry.

On the Aragog Registry page, players need to place 1 Adversary and 4 Artefacts to prestige the page. These are:

  • Aragog
  • Vial of Acromantula Venom
  • Aragog’s Web
  • Aragog’s Egg
  • Group of Baby Acromantula

To earn the Aragog Fragments and Artefact Fragments, you need to defeat the Guards and Aragog himself. These are:

  • Common Acromantula
  • Fierce Acromantula
  • Aragog

For each Guard you defeat, you earn 1 Artefact Fragment. When you defeat Aragog, you earn 1 Aragog Fragment and 1 Artefact Fragment.

How to Defeat Aragog in Wizards Unite

To defeat any Adversary, players need a combination of Spell Energy, Potions, and time. How many of these resources you use will depend on your Profession, your Profession’s Lesson Plan, and your Profession’s Advanced Adversarial Combat. The more you complete in your skill trees, the less resources you will need to defeat Adversaries.

If you have completed more than one Profession’s Lesson Plan, you should play as a Magizoologist to defeat Aragog. That said, you won’t know the type of Adversary until you enter the Adversary Encounter. Once you start the Adversary Encounter, there is not a way to change your Profession. Some players have successfully used a second device to change Profession, but this can cause a glitch that kicks you out of the Adversary Encounter, so do this at your own risk.

When Aragog is a boosted Adversary like during an event, you should play as a Magizoologist for the extra advantage. To reiterate, this advice is only true if you are equally strong in more than one Profession.

Damage Dealt by Aragog and Guards

When going through the Aragog Adversary chain, you take damage whenever the Foe hits you. This chart shows how much damage you take, depending on your Profession.

Resources Needed to Defeat Aragog

Plotter101 put together the following chart to help players prioritize their resources when completing the Aragog Adversary chain.

aragog-simple-1024x576.png

Accessibility note: If you are using a screen reader, the following text explains this chart about the Aragog chain.

Aurors will need to use 3 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the 1st Guard; 8 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the 2nd Guard; 7 Spell Energy and 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion OR 15 Spell Energy and 1 Healing Potion to defeat Aragog.

Magizoologists will need to use 2 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the 1st Guard; 6 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the 2nd Guard; 11 Spell Energy and 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion OR 19 Spell Energy and 1 Healing Potion to defeat Aragog.

Professors will need to use 4 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the 1st Guard; 12 Spell Energy and 0 Potions to defeat the 2nd Guard; 15 Spell Energy and 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion OR 23 Spell Energy and 1 Healing Potion to defeat Aragog.

These recommendations assume that players have completed 10/15 nodes in Advanced Adversarial Combat. If you have not done this, you will use more resources.

Personally, as a Professor with 5/15 nodes completed, I don’t use any Potions against the 1st Guard. I use 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion against the 2nd Guard to save on Spell Energy. I use 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion and 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion against Aragog, with Healing Potions available in case of bad RNG.

How to Defeat Aragog by Profession

These charts will again assume that players have completed 10/15 nodes in Advanced Adversarial Combat. If you have not done this, you can calculate whether or not you need Potions by using this spreadsheet with data compiled by Plotter101 and his Discord. You will need to make a copy in your own Google Drive in order to update the player stats on the Summary page.

How to Defeat Aragog as a Magizoologist

Plotter101 put together this chart to show Magizoologists the different combination of resources (Spell Energy, Potions, and time) necessary to defeat Aragog.

aragog-magizoologist-1024x576.png

Accessibility note: If you are using a screen reader, the following text explains this chart about Aragog.

If a Magizoologist doesn’t use any Potions to deal greater damage, they might need 1 Healing Potion to defeat Aragog, and they will use 16-20+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 160 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 95.2% of the time.

If a Magizoologist uses 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion, they shouldn’t need any Healing Potions, and they will use 13-17+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 135.5 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 99.22% of the time.

If a Magizoologist uses 1 regular Exstimulo Potion, they shouldn’t need any Healing Potions, and they will use 13-17+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 136 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 99.1% of the time.

If a Magizoologist uses 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion, they shouldn’t need any Healing Potions, and they will use 9-13+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 97.5 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 99.97% of the time. This is the best strategy to conserve resources.

If a Magizoologist uses 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion, they shouldn’t need any Healing Potions, and they will use 5-8+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 50.9 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 100% of the time.

If a Magizoologist uses 1 regular Exstimulo Potion AND 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion, they shouldn’t need any Healing Potions, and they will use 10-14+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 109.5 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 99.11% of the time.

If a Magizoologist uses 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion AND 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion, they shouldn’t need any Healing Potions, and they will use 6-10+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 71.3 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 99.99% of the time.

If a Magizoologist uses 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion AND 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion, they shouldn’t need any Healing Potions, and they will use 4-7+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 40.1 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 100% of the time.

How to Defeat Aragog as a Professor

Plotter101 put together this chart to show Professors the different combination of resources (Spell Energy, Potions, and time) necessary to defeat Aragog.

Geeky-edition-wizhub2-1024x576.png

Accessibility note: If you are using a screen reader, the following text explains this chart about Aragog.

If a Professor doesn’t use any Potions to deal greater damage, they will need 1-3 Healing Potions to defeat Aragog, and they will use 20-24+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 188.3 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win only 3.2% of the time, so don’t do this!

If a Professor uses 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion, they will need 1-3 Healing Potions to defeat Aragog, and they will use 17-21+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 162.5 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win only 11.9% of the time, so don’t do this!

If a Professor uses 1 regular Exstimulo Potion, they will need 1-3 Healing Potions to defeat Aragog, and they will use 17-21+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 162.7 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win only 11.9% of the time, so don’t do this!

If a Professor uses 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion, they will need 1-2 Healing Potions to defeat Aragog, and they will use 12-16+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 125.6 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 47.3% of the time. This is still quite risky.

If a Professor uses 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion, they might need 1 Healing Potion, and they will use 6-11+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 64.1 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 97% of the time.

If a Professor uses 1 regular Exstimulo Potion AND 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion, they will need 1-2 Healing Potions to defeat Aragog, and they will use 13-17+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 136.8 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 33.5% of the time. This is still quite risky.

If a Professor uses 1 Strong Exstimulo Potion AND 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion, they might need 1 Healing Potion, and they will use 9-13+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 98.1 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 78.92% of the time. This is the best strategy to conserve resources, but have extra Healing Potions on hand just in case.

If a Professor uses 1 Potent Exstimulo Potion AND 1 Wit-Sharpening Potion, they shouldn’t need any Healing Potions, and they will use 5-9+ Spell Energy. The average time needed to defeat Aragog will be 51.6 seconds. With this strategy, a player will win 99.43% of the time.

Final Thoughts on Aragog the Adversary

First of all, dude is creepy. This witch does not like spiders.

But on a serious note, Aragog is a tough Adversary to beat. If you’re a newer player, or a casual player, you might need to work your way up to defeating Aragog. You can start collecting Artefact Fragments by defeating the Guards. Then you can back out from the Adversary Encounter to save on Potions and Spell Energy.

As I have already stated in every single Adversaries guide, prioritize finishing one Profession’s Lesson Plan. All Professions have strengths and weaknesses, so consider your overall game strategy as a player, beyond Adversaries alone.

What do you think about Aragog? What other advice would you offer players of different levels?

Big thanks to Plotter101 and his Discord for compiling this data.
