Trailer Frenzy: Turbulent Hippogriff

This past few weeks, we have been inundated with a huge number of teaser trailers for Wizards Unite. They’ve come out so fast we haven’t really had time to properly analyse them. That’s why we’ve decided to take a moment and go over each of them in turn. Today it’s Buckbeak’s turn in Turbulent Hippogriff

The Trailer Poster

WB and Niantic have been working on their marketing campaign for Wizards Unite, trying to reach those Muggles that still don’t know magic is real. If you want to know more about this you can read our post:

Wizards Unite for Squibs and Muggles

Recently, they released a new batch of Wizards Unite Muggle-proof posters. This was one of them.

The text next to the image reads as follows:

A Hippogriff has been sighted overhead. A Muggle witness mistook it for a particularly realistic child’s balloon complete with ribbon – which we suspect is in fact an iron shackle Confoundable. If grounded we advise you to approach with extreme caution and at a respectful 45 degree angle before freeing it with Alohomora. If airborne we urge you to report the sighting to the Statute of Secrecy Task Force and then XXXX run for cover. Preferably in that order. Stay vigilant and humble, particularly in grassy areas where dogs take Muggles for walks.

The Teaser Trailer

And here you can see the trailer itself in all its glory. Just look at those poor, unaware Muggles thinking a flying Hippogriff was an overly realistic child’s balloon.

Here’s a transcription of the text we see on the SoS Trace file.

Trace no. 321, Turbulent Hippogriff.

Witness: Commuter Muggles described the creature as ‘biggest bird ever’ (written in Japanese).

Damage: Muggle billboard obbliterated.

This Trace was logged after the Monster Book of Monsters and the Ravenous Three Headed Dog and, unlike those two, we don’t have a time stamp on the footage. That means it’s impossible to know if this took place recently or, like in the other two cases, the Ministry sat on this information for a while.

It is also quite strange that, while the incident occurred in Japan, the footage was first released exclusively in Brasil. What is happening behind closed Ministry doors?

And that’s it for today

While I enjoyed this trailer, it’s certainly not my favourite of the bunch. Although, as always, the text that accompanies the Trace file is beyond perfect. Especially this line:

Stay vigilant and humble, particularly in grassy areas where dogs take Muggles for walks.
