It seems even a pandemic won’t stop the Calamity from trying to destroy our way of living. Or perhaps it’s the Calamity itself that’s behind it? Either way, all us members of the SOS Task Force will surely do our best to contain it at least.

I’m sure we’re all glad to see the tasks for this event have been adapted to the current world situation, even though our ability to complete them will vary greatly depending on where we live. But let’s take a look at the tasks and figure out how to best get through them.

The Circus Calamitous II Brilliant Event Tasks

Lasting an entire week (from March 24th to March 31st), this will be the second part of the Circus Calamitous Brilliant Event. This event will let us complete the second page of the event Registry, get some of the Fragments from Part I and also get our hands on some more of those precious restricted books that are holding our professional careers back.

The Brilliant Event Tasks

Just like in all previous events, this one will be split into four parts. Every task will have its own reward, with a larger reward once each of the four parts are completed. This is where we will get our Restricted Section books, along with Brilliant Foundables, event XP and much more. Let’s take a closer look at those tasks.

Our take on the tasks

All of this tasks were designed to (mostly) complete from home. Of course, some of us live in areas where our map is completely empty and only the Tonic for Trace Detection brings magic to our phones. So of course in those cases, the potion won’t be enough to complete the event. If you’re within range of an Inn you’re in luck. For the rest of us, let’s break down the tasks so we can plan accordingly.

Part 1/4

There’s not much to say about this task.

Picking an ingredient or item from the map should be easy enough. How fast you can return the three Kappas will depend on how frequently they appear. There’s no official word as of yet on whether the Tonic for Trace Detection will reveal Brilliant Foundables but since it did during Circus Calamitous II we can probably expect it will work this time, too.

The Master Notes task is the only one that might trip you up. However, you only need to make sure you don’t use Master Notes on a Potion brewing when the event begins. If you have used the Master Notes already, though, you will have to wait until the Potion is complete or pay to accelerate it (or use the rented Cauldron) to complete this part fast.

Part 2/4

For this part we might need to step out of the house. We need to dine at three Inns (or three times at the same Inn, of course) to complete the task. We will also need to use a Tonic for Trace Detection. If you don’t have one in stock you can use the one from the Complimentary Gift.

However, the brewing task will present a bit of a challenge. Mainly because of the Master Notes task from part 1. We cannot use Master Notes if there are Potions to collect, and if we collect those Potions before completing part 1/4 they won’t count.

My advise: Pre-brew the three Exstimulo Potions in your normal Cauldron. When the event begins rent a Copper Cauldron and start brewing one (any) Potion. Use the Master Notes on that one. Be careful not to collect any of the Exstimulos during this part!!. Then, when you get to part 2/4 simply collect those three Potions you’ll have waiting for you in your normal Cauldron. No wait time whatsoever. The cost will be 15 Gold Coins for the rental vs about 6 hours of brewing or the Gold needed to speed up the process.

Part 3/4

This part should be fairly easy to complete. You need to return 5 Brilliant Nagini (again, how long this takes will depend on how many Foundables appear on the map), use 4 Exstimulo Potions and earn 750 Wizarding XP. You can use the Potions during any encounter so, even though it might feel wasteful, it shouldn’t be a problem. Earning the Wizarding XP shouldn’t take too many encounters, either. But it will go a lot faster using Baruffio’s Brain Elixir during this part.

Part 4/4

Here you will need to use two more Tonics for Trace Detection. If you don’t have enough in stock try to collect the ingredients from the map before the event. Remember Master Notes reduce this Potion’s brewing times by 50%. Another task is to collect energy from the map three times. If you have an active map then you’ll have no trouble finding energy to collect, of course.

The five high threat Foundables might give you a bit more trouble, however. My advice is that you use a Tonic for Trace Detection at night. It will not only reveal the usual amount of high threat Traces, but you will also find Vampires, which are high threat Oddities.

Time is still on our side

So all in all, this event should could take a day or two, depending on your time-zone (the later the event starts in your area, the less time you’ll have to play on day one), how much you can walk, and how many potions you managed to brew ahead of time and what you can find on your map. But, of course, this is far from a competition, and we have a whole week to complete the tasks, so there’s no need to rush. Being safe is your only priority here.

Tasks Rewards Summary

As for the reward, if we complete every task we will get:

  • 1800 XP (vs the usual 2250)
  • 200 Brilliant Family XP
  • 1 Silver Key
  • 5 Ministry ID Stickers
  • 1 Ministry ID Frames
  • 2 Brilliant Foundables (vs the usual 3)
  • Ingredients to brew Potent Exstimulo Potion and Baruffio’s Brain Elixir
  • 50 gold coins
  • 15 Restricted Section Books
  • 2 Red Spell Books
A few important details

Just like in previous two-part events, map Foundables from Part I will appear during Part II, which is great if you didn’t manage to return all the Fragments. Also, if you have any leftover Runestones from part I they will start yielding the new Foundable as soon as the event begins. Once the event is over, they will yield Fragments from Part I or II at random.

If you don’t have access to a Fortress you can get the Brilliant Candy Floss Stand by completing three of the Bonus Tasks (earn 2000 Wizard XP, use Tonic for Trace Detection and cast Alohomora 30 times)

The opposite applies to Portkeys. Any Portkey you still have from Part I will yield Part I fragments regardless of when you open it. So, unlike the Runestones, you shouldn’t save those Portmanteaus for Part II. They will only take up space and make it harder to complete the Part II Portkey Foundable.

Portkeys for Circus Calamitous Brilliant Event will be 1.5km instead of the usual 3km

    • 1 Dark Detector
    • 25 Spell Energy

    • 5 Baruffio’s Brain Elixirs
    • 15 Potent Exstimulo Potions
    • 15 Silver Keys
    • 100 Spell Energy
How to complete the tasks in one outing

Here’s what you can do to complete the event in a single outing if you don’t have an Inn within reach of your home:

  • If possible, head to a safe area where you can reach a Fortress and an Inn. I usually go to a parking lot in town, for example, where I can play from the car.
  • Have 3 Exstimulo Potions ready to collect.
  • Start a new potion in a rented cauldron and use Master Notes. Then complete the other Part 1/4 tasks.
  • Collect those three Potions, use a Tonic for Trace Detection and dine at an Inn 3 times.
  • Unless Brilliant Traces are hard to find, this shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes.
  • Once in part 3/4 head to a Fortress. Use Brilliant Runestones to get the Candy Floss Stand Foundable and earn 750XP while you’re at it. You can use the four Exstimulo Potions during those encounters.
  • Once you have done all of this and returned the 5 Nagini Foundables you can head on home.
  • Remember to collect spell energy at least three times on your way.
  • Depending on how long you took in the Fortress, you can probably get to part 4/4 within an hour of the event starting.
  • You should be able to return the five high threat Foundables easily enough with Tonic for Trace Detection.
  • The event is now complete! The four Tonics you need to use in the Bonus Assignment will probably be enough to complete those tasks.
That’s what we have for today, so be safe and (go) play!
