After a busy Dark Arts Month in October, we were all prepared for a bit of a down time. Not looking forward to it, of course, but ready to understand that such a hectic month might be followed by a calmer one in order to give developers time to set up more amazing things for us players. Thankfully, that’s not the case. The month of November kicked off with a week-long International event: the International Games Week at Libraries. Let’s check out some of the details!
The International Games Week Announcement
This is, of course, the first year Wizards Unite participates in this international event that tries to bring readers closer to the amazing universes that live inside books. And with the Potterverse being one of those universes books brought to life, we couldn’t expect any less from Niantic, and Wizards Unite.
Although the official Wizards Unite site doesn’t offer any additional information, here we can see the official Tweet where it was announced.
Visit your local library next week for a chance to encounter iconic characters from the wizarding world, including Hermione, Luna, and Neville! Learn more here: https://t.co/gmFbM9B0yC #WizardsUnite pic.twitter.com/JzzgdSa6Xg

The International Games Week Donor Spotlight
And here is the announcement from the organisers, shining a spotlight on one of their donors, Harry Potter, Wizards Unite.
We’re excited to announce our collaboration with Niantic, Inc. during International Games Week at Libraries to integrate special real-world activations in the augmented reality (AR) mobile game, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite™.
In celebration of International Games Week at Libraries, players may have the opportunity to encounter iconic characters, including Hermione, Luna, and Neville. These characters will appear more frequently at various libraries around the world from November 3rd to November 9th.
Thanks to Niantic, Inc. and WB Games for providing another great game to IGW 2019!
The International Games Week Details
This International event will run from November 3 at 8 A.M. to November 9 at 5 P.M. local time.
The International Games Week generally covers only some libraries. However, the Wizards Unite accompanying event will give us increased spawns near most libraries, whether they are in the IGW catalogue or not.
During this week-long International Event we will find a series of Traces that will appear far more often than they normally would. Those are:
- Young Luna Lovegood
- Young Neville Longbottom
- Professor Sprout
- Young Ron Weasley
- Professor Flitwick
- Quidditch Tryouts Seamus
- Young Hermione Granger
While we wouldn’t normally expect to see some of this characters in a library of their own free will, it seems the Calamity has decided to transport them there. It’s up to us now to free them (and gain some XP and Foundable Fragments while doing so).
As always, @OrangeWizard2019 has provided players with a wonderful graphic containing all the most relevant information.
Let’s head out and play!
