No Witch or Wizard Without a Wand
Will compatible Magic Wands become available once Wizards Unite comes out?
Every wand needs its wizard
Everyone will agree that a magic wand is a witch or wizard’s most important possession. It doesn’t matter if it is made of alder, dogwood or maple. Nor if its core material is unicorn hair, dragon heartstring or phoenix feather. Once your wand chooses you, a new world of possibilities opens before you, much like that brick wall that leads to Diagon Alley.
“Mr Ollivander is arguably the finest maker of wands in the world, and many foreigners travel to London to purchase one of his wands in preference to those on offer in their native lands.”
Every wizard needs his wand
Although some magic can be performed to a certain degree without a wand, it is generally unconscious and uncontrolled. Witches and wizards need an object to channel their magic through, something attuned to their very souls.
Every single wand is unique and will depend for its character on the particular tree and magical creature from which it derives its materials. Moreover, each wand, from the moment it finds its ideal owner, will begin to learn from and teach its human partner.
Muggles want those wands, too!
Through the years, most Harry Potter fans have found -and bought- all kinds of merchandise. Many of us also love making Potter-related things ourselves, such as costumes, notebooks or MACUSA clocks.
But if there is one thing every Harry Potter fan loves and longs for, it is a magic wand . Even if our little magic-less selves cannot make the most of its power.
Wands come in all shapes and forms, and for all kinds of different uses.
Some are collectibles:
Some are quite useful pens to carry around:
And some are perfect to play around the house:
Wizards Unite, a world of possibilities
But now the Harry Potter world is coming to our streets in a big way. AR technology is developing fast, much like we covered in our post: Is multiplayer duelling on its way?
Samsung’s stylus has a Bluetooth connection that can be tracked in real-time. This could let players use the stylus as a wand when casting spells or duelling one another.
And it’s not only AR technology that is getting better. Like we mentioned in our post: Did Samsung call dibs on WU? Samsung’s S Pen could possibly be used as a wand within the game.
Of course, us Harry Potter fans do like our pretties.
We already have accelerometers and gyroscopes in our phones, now there is a pen that can be tracked in real time with Bluetooth.
It isn’t that much of a logic jump to imagine WB investing in some new, state-of-the-art merchandise for us Potterheads that want nothing more than to go out on the street with our wands and our phones and help put an end to The Calamity.
Please, WB, just imagine.
