It seems this month will be full of spooky magical treats courtesy of Wizards Unite. Whether it’s a special Nearly-Headless Nick Death Day celebration or the more popular Samhain or Halloween, October will be packed full of special events, new Foundables and surely a few more surprises we’re yet to hear about. Let’s have a look at what this Dark Arts Month has in store for us.
The Dark Arts Month announcement
This is what the original Tweet had to say:
October marks the start of #DarkArtsMonth and reports of sinister dark magic are on the rise! Stay tuned for more details on all the eerie events unfolding in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
And here is a really interesting little video from the official Wizards Unite twitter account:

The Dark Arts Month Events
There’s quite a bit planned for this spooky month. Here’s a run down of what we know so far.
The Brilliant Event: Fighting Forces
The celebrations will start this Tuesday, October 8th as the new Brilliant Event, Fighting Forces I, kicks off. This will be a two-parter, with part one going from October 8th to October 14th and part two from October 22nd to October 28th.
Among the new Foundables, and sticking to the month’s theme, the event will offer a Brilliant Death Eater and an Azkaban escapee.

These Brilliant Events will focus heavily on Dark Arts and Oddities, quite fitting for a Dark Arts Month event.
Here’s our Brilliant Event Walkthrough with everything you need to know about Fighting Forces, Part I
Special Tasks Following the Brilliant Event
There’s a new feature accompanying the Fighting Forces Brilliant Event. Once we complete all the event tasks, we will have access to a special set of tasks, or bonus assignment, with some extra rewards. Here’s what to expect:

October’s Community Day
This month’s Community Day will happen on October 19th, right between the two parts of the Brilliant Event.
We don’t know much about this Community Day yet. However, here’s what the official site has to say:
Expect more uncanny creatures including Vampire, Werewolf and Doxy oddities appearing more frequently in the game.
So there are two things to note here:
- This month, the full moon falls on the 13th. Which means werewolves shouldn’t still be appearing by the 19th.
- Most of those Oddities spawn at night (with Werewolves limited to five days surrounding the full moon).
My first thought was we’d be getting a nighttime Community Day, which in all honesty would be amazing. It would fit the spooky theme perfectly. But not everyone can safely go out and play at night, so that could be an issue.
Which brought me to the other option: Vampires and Werewolves could be popping up in Muggle areas in the middle of the day. We do know Potterverse Vampires don’t sparkle, but they would probably still be quite noticeable. Not to mention werewolves. So every Task Force Member will have to be in high alert to make sure no Muggle spots these dangerous creatures. And make sure you practice your Memory Charms before heading out!
In general, though, it looks like the Community Day will be mainly focused on Oddities. Here’s hoping the ones from the new Oddities Registry Page will pop up, too.
*Note: This caption was taken from my own Registry Page, but it seems there’s a different one as well, with a Dementor instead of the Death Eater. We don’t know why this is happening but keep an eye on our Twitter account (@AccioWU) to find out the reason as soon as we do!
Exclusive Halloween Quest: October 31
And last, but not least, we just found out there will be a special surprise on Halloween! This time the focus will be Fortresses, with an exclusive Dark Arts-themed Wizarding Challenge Fortress Chamber and quest with limited-time rewards.
At the moment that is all the information we have, but there’s certainly more to come. For some reason it seems this month the developers are keeping events details to themselves until the last minute. We don’t even have the Fighting Forces Event Registry Page available yet.
How excited are you for the Dark Arts Month?
Sure, Dark Arts are “bad”, but they’re also quite alluring, and definitely more fun to defeat in Wizards Unite than a handful of Flobberworms. That’s why, although I’m not a huge fan of Halloween, I am really looking forward to all the Wizards Unite events. It will be great fun to complete every task and get those nice rewards. Even more so if we get to share the experience with other Potterheads!
So which of these events are you most looking forward to? Do you think this month’s Community Day could actually take place at night? Are you looking forward to battling Fluffy or worried he might feel peckish and eat your wand hand? You do remember what he did outside that Muggle sports stadium, right?
Make sure you’re ready to make the most of the event, add your Friend Code to our map if you haven’t yet. You can also have a look around the map and find players in your area!
We also have a Local Community Map where you can add your Wizards Unite Communities for other players to find you!
If you have any more tips for new players make sure to leave them in the comment section! We’d love to make the most the event.
