It is finally confirmed! Wizards Unite Beta is live in Australia!
The surprise email
We were beginning to wonder if it would ever happen at all. Was Niantic pulling the longest April Fools’ prank on those poor Australians?
In case you don’t remember the details, it all began one rainy morning (it was probably raining somewhere) last Wednesday, April 24th. Those Australian Witches and Wizards that had pre-registered at the Play Store received a wonderful email from Niantic…
Wizards Unite beta was live in their region! However, it soon became clear it had all been a mistake. The App wasn’t ready for download at neither the Play Store nor the App Store. Those with the APK had no access to in-game data. No Traces, no Foundables. Nothing.
Soon after came Niantic’s ‘explanation’ and apology.
The App Store Debacle
Just two days later, Niantic decided they hadn’t played with those poor Australians enough. Due to some sort of mistake, the Wizards Unite App was suddenly available at the App Store. For about a minute.
It was pulled just as quickly as it had appeared. But of course, not quickly enough for Potterheads needing their Wizards Unite fix. A few players managed to download the App but quickly found out it was of no use. They could only go as far as anyone with the APK download could. They had access to the introduction, but once that was finished their map remained empty.
Cut to today
A week later, everyone was expecting Wizards Unite beta to go live in Australia on Wizarding Wednesday. But there were no news all day. And then, about an hour ago (which was early Thursday for Australians) something happened.
We started hearing rumours that those Australian players who had downloaded the APK suddenly had data available. They could see buildings, Traces, potion ingredients…the beta was somehow working.
Still we were all hesitant. Mainly because there was no official announcement of any kind. So we were all probably fearing the data will vanish in a matter of seconds.
But then we heard the App was available for download at the Play Store. And then App Store.
And then the Wizards Untie official site made the announcement!
