Wizards Unite Gameplay: Professions

Ever since we first heard about professions, most of us have been wondering exactly what makes each one different, what their attributes will be, and especially which one is the best choice (spoiler alert – it’s Professor!). Here is a short guide to Wizards Unite Professions.

If you are still unsure which profession to choose, check out our Wizards Unite Profession Quiz

Apart from being members of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force, the Ministry also expects us to hold a ‘Day Job’. For this we will have to choose one of three Professions, which will unlock once we reach level six in the game.

What are our options?

The game will let us choose between three career paths: Professor, Magizoologist or Auror.

While this profession will not affect our ability to return Foundables on the map, it will completely shape the way we battle through Fortresses.

Each profession comes with an achievement tree. This skill tree changed just before the official rollout began. The first image below is the original Auror skill tree.

As you can see in the picture, there is a complex scheme that will only allow us to level up or increase our skill once we have achieved a certain proficiency in related areas.

Here is what that same Auror skill tree looks like now.

If you tap on any of the nodes you can see a very brief description of what it does.

Professions: Professor

Led by Professor McGonagall, this represents the most balanced of the three Wizards Unite Professions. This option has both a stamina and quite a bit of power. It also allows players to not only place impairments on foes but also enhance a teammate’s defense and restore their stamina.

This is how the game describes the profession:

Professors are highly adept spellcasters who use their deep magical knowledge to debilitate Foes while also supporting their Teammates. Professors are most effective against Curiosities.

Professions: Magizoologist

Led by none other than Rubeus Hagrid, this is the tank profession. Magizoologist are not especially powerful when it comes to attacking, but their stamina makes them able to withstand just about anything an enemy might throw their way. They are also excellent when it comes to supporting their team. They can not only heal teammates, but also revive them if they lose all their stamina while battling in a Fortress.

This is how the game describes the profession:

Trained in the care and preservation of magical creatures, in combat Magizoologists focus on healing and helping their Teammates. Magizoologists are most effective against Beasts.

Professions: Auror

Aurors are, of course, led by Harry Potter himself. As the job would imply, Aurors have the highest attack stats, although their stamina is the lowest of the three professions. They are the perfect choice for battle, just make sure to have enough healing Potions handy. Just in case.

This is how the game describes the profession:

Aurors are combat veterans who defeat Foes by combining their innate leadership with a litany of debilitating spells. Aurors are most effective against Dark Forces.

Teaming up against the Calamity

Although there are rumours of teams to come (one for each member of the Golden Trio), there is still no official word on that. However, the official information does mention the possibility of working with other players.

The game works best when played with friends (or, hey, fellow players in the street that you could abruptly make your new best friends!) due to multiplayer challenges that you’ll come across on your travels.

There is, however, a more specific mention of teamwork:

Bear in mind that working together with comrades from different wizarding professions will help you cover more ground – as well as unlock rarer content.

So a good thing to keep in mind when choosing your profession is other people you know will play the game. If you want to work together, you will want to make sure you have different professions to make the most of the experience. And always keep a strong Magizoologist in your team for a quick Stamina top-up.

The name of the game is, after all, Wizards Unite.

And that’s a wrap!
