We can finally send and receive Gifts in Wizards Unite. And it’s pretty awesome!
Just a few hours ago this new feature went live. We haven’t had time to test it much yet, but we’re loving what we’re seeing so far. So let’s take a look at how this new feature works, and what it can do for us.
With the latest Wizards Unite update we finally got official word that the Gift feature was ‘coming soon’. Now to be honest, I was expecting that ‘soon’ to work similarly to Adventure Sync. As in, not so soon really. But imagine my surprise when I open the game today and find out the new feature is actually live! And well ahead of the holidays, too.
Here’s the official Tweet:
Gifting is now live in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite! Visit a variety of locations to stock up on gifts then exchange them with your friends to unwrap useful rewards!

The Different Gifts and rewards
The new feature offers us three different types of gifts. Each Gift Box will give players some Wizarding XP and one more reward that will depend on where the Gift was collected. Here are the three types of Gifts:
- Blue Gift Boxes – You can collect these at Inns and will reward players with Spell Energy.
- Yellow Gift Boxes – You can collect these at Fortresses and will reward players with a Runestone.
- Green Gift Boxes – You can collect these at Greenhouses and will reward players with Potion Ingredients.
The Feature has only been live for a few hours, but some players have reported different contents in the Gift Boxes than those announced. More specifically, some lucky witches and wizards have received Red Spell Books in their mail.
Here you can see it in a Tweet from the wonderful @GittaLovegood

How do I send Gifts?
When you collect from an Inn or Greenhouse or when you complete a Wizarding Challenge, you might receive a Gift Box. It’s not guaranteed, and it’s too soon to know how often they will appear, but those three places are where you will find your Boxes. Like we mentioned before, the contents will depend on which building the gift came from.
It’s important to remember that Gifts from Sponsored locations will have greater base rewards. So if you play near Sponsored buildings and find a Gift Box make sure to send it to your most special Wizards Unite Friends!
Another thing you need to keep in mind is that you cannot open the Gift Boxes you find. All those Boxes will go to your inventory so that you can send it to your Wizards Unite Friends.
You can access your Gift inventory in the social icon on the map, right above your Ministry ID image. It’s in the same menu as all the Friends options. Below you can see how the menu looks like now.
The first image shows my Friends list. You can easily choose which Friend to send a gift to through this page. Simply tao on the ‘Send Gift’ option and then choose the Box you would like to send.
The second image shows your Gift inventory. Those are the Boxes you found and can send to your Friends, not the Gifts you have received. This inventory has a fixed capacity of 30 Gift Boxes, but there doesn’t seem to be a maximum amount of Gifts you can send to your friends. So whenever your storage is full you can send a few boxes away, make your friends very happy, and make room for even more Boxes.
How do I open a Gift?
The way to open a Gift Box is very similar to the way to send one. You will see a message pop up whenever you receive a Gift Box from a Friend. This message will show you the name of the sender, the place where the Gift was collected and an image of this location. You will also see the colour of the Box and the type of Gift.
This is what it will look like:
To open the Gift you simply need to tap on the Social icon on the map, scroll through your Friends list and choose ‘Open Gift’. Now this is important, though: You can only open 10 Gifts per day, so try to remember what each colour Gift Box contains. That way you can choose the Gifts that best suit your needs at any given time.
