Wizards Unite logo finally released

Wizards Unite, the Announcement

A year ago, the WB Games (through Portkey Games) and Niantic announced a deal to create an Augmented Reality game based in the world of Harry Potter. The news had every last Harry Potter fan more excited than a niffler at the jewellerÂŽs.

The Long Wait

What we didn’t know back then was that, after the announcement, we would have to endure a year with little to no information. We have all kept busy as best we could. We have developed theories, speculated for months and analysed every last bit of information as it was released.

Then, finally, when we were all desperate enough to just grab a time turner and skip the wait, news started to arrive.

Wizards Unite news at last

Pottermore was the first to unveil the new Wizards Unite Logo (you can find the announcement here).

Soon after that, the first trailer video arrived. In it the Ministry unveiled their new Statute of Secrecy Task Force and called on all witches and wizards to enlist and help save the wizarding world from The Calamity. You can watch the video and our analysis in this post.

Then came a teaser video. In it we could see a flock of Nimbus 2000 flying riderless and out of control in the Muggle world. Check it out in this post.

The Wizards Unite Logo and the three wands

But today we will be focusing on the Wizards Unite Logo and the little clues it might hold within.

Let’s have a closer look and see what we can find.

It’s all in the details

The fact that the top part of the logo reads Harry Potter is a bit of a surprise. Although the Harry Potter books are what started the Potter-verse, the focus during the last few years has been centered on the new (although related) franchise: Fantastic Beasts.

As for the game title, it implies we need to work together, and not against one another. This is a different approach than other Hogwarts-set games where we are sorted into competing Houses. In this case it seems every Task Force member needs to work together to stop The Calamity.

Then there is the three wands forming the letter A in the center of the logo. Most Harry Potter fans will be able to recognise them on sight.

Harry, Ron and Hermione survived throughout the books by working together as one. This clearly aligns with the game title, putting more emphasis on the idea of working as a team.

A blending of two franchises

Another thing one might notice is the logo’s font. The last S in the Fantastic Beasts logo is very similar to the one in the Wizards Unite Logo.

This would suggest that beasts, objects and characters from the Fantastic Beast franchise might be part of the game, instead of it being centered only on Harry Potter. This could mean a blending of both franchises, tying them together to make the experience even greater.

In fact, if you look closely enough, the silver lettering in the Wizards Unite logo is all scuffed, almost as if a ‘fantastic beast’ had been trying to attack it.

More to come

We will surely find out more about the game in the coming weeks or months (since the release date is a very broad 2019). Here, at AccioWizardsUnite, we will be sure to keep you up to date with every bit of news as they are released, so stay tuned!

Don’t forget to check out everything we know about the Release Date and Game Download.

And above all, stay alert!

Remember: keep your eyes peeled, your ears open and your wands ready.
