Welcome to Accio Wizards Unite
Now that you’ve found us, here are a few things you should know.
Who we are
So the Accio Wizards Unite dream-team is composed of Breixo and Samantuchy. We are long-time friends and big fans of Harry Potter. Funnily enough, we’re also both Ravenclaws.
Breixo has a lot of experience on blogs and social media. In fact, he has been running a very successful blog for over ten years now.
I (Samantuchy) started writing stories about as soon as I learnt how to read and write. I’ve been part of the Harry Potter writing community for many, many years, and have enjoyed every minute of it.
So when we heard about this new game coming out, we decided it would be the perfect opportunity to put our heads together, combine our knowledge, experience and interests, and create a friendly community that would welcome every Potterhead who stumbled our way.
We would focus on the game, yes, but it would come from a place of love for the source material. There are many blogs that cover Wizards Unite simply as an AR game. We wanted something else. We wanted a fan community that appreciated the little things within the game. That saw that displaced memory of Ron facing the Boggart we got in the March footage and would instantly think back to Snape dressed as Neville’s grandmother.
And thus, one 2018 afternoon, Accio Wizards Unite was born.
What we bring to the table
Like we mentioned before, this site was created by fans of the Harry Potter Universe, and we would like to share this game experience with like-minded people.
Even if you didn’t receive that wonderful Hogwarts Acceptance Letter on your eleventh birthday,we all want to keep up with what is happening in the wizarding world. And this is the best place to do that, have a laugh or two at some wacky Quibbler articles and meet some amazing people in our Community Forum.
This is where you will get a chance to share all your thoughts and opinions. You will meet people who feel the same love for everything Harry Potter, talk about Wizards Unite and make new friends. You will get to watch some amazing videos from our favourite WUtubers and share your own content with the rest of us.
So witches, wizards, Squibs and Muggles, come along for the ride

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be all about working together, and players will have to explore their real-world surroundings to solve a global mystery, all the while encountering artefacts, magical creatures, and familiar characters from the Wizarding World that we think you’ll know quite well.
For those new to the site or just finding out about the game, let’s do a read-through of what we know so far.
Our News Outlets
With the threat of The Calamity so palpable, it is important to keep up with the Ministry’s Public Service Announcements.
Through these news outlets we will cover the latest wizarding news, rumours and gossip every witch and wizard needs to know. Is there a new feud between the Malfoys and the Potters? Is the Board of Governors trying to take over Hogwarts? Will Luna Lovegood win this year’s Outstanding Achievement Award for her work in magizoology?
But not everything is sensationalism. As more and more cases of magic appear across the Muggle world, every witch and wizard must be ready to protect our secret.
Wizards Unite Training Site
Now is the perfect time to start your training and brush up on your magical knowledge. This way, you will make the most out of the game when it comes out. Learn how to become the best Statute of Secrecy Task Force member the wizarding world has ever seen.
We will go over the different Fantastic Beasts that make the wizarding world unique. What they look like, where they come from, what they can do…
But most importantly, how to manage them if we find them in the game. And what they can do for us if we get to adopt one as our magical pet.
Wizards Unite Characters
There are many witches and wizards that had a large hand in shaping the wizarding world. Whether it’s the heroes or the villains, it’s important to understand what made these wizarding characters into who they are (or were). What drove them, what tempted them, what defeated them or allowed them to come out victorious.
Every spell, curse, jinx and charm can come in useful at a certain time. Even potions could help keep us alive in the game. So let’s go over the different types of magic we learnt in the books and could come in handy once we start playing the game.
Wizards Unite Fiction
This little corner of our site is where you will find some stories related to the Calamity and the Wizardning World.
In Justice for Melinda, for example, you will follow Head of SoS Task Force Ushan Bones as she tries to find out who -or what- killed her friend. She will not be alone, however. Ushan will find an unlikely ally in Ron Weasley as he enlists to help save the wizarding world from the Calamity. Head Auror Harry Potter, however, won’t make things quite so easy for her. Aurors and their secrets…
Wizards Unite AR Game
Although it has been over a year since it was first announced, we are all still anxiously awaiting the arrival of Wizards Unite.
This Augmented Reality (AR) game will be based on the Potter-verse and created by Portkey Games (WB) and Niantic, the company behind Pokémon-Go. In fact, when it was first announced, fans often referred to Wizards Unite as Harry Potter Go.
The latest release date speculation came our way through Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara who said in an interview that Wizards Unite would be released this summer.

Is it for everyone?
We can’t know for sure if Niantic will release a Wizards Unite Beta version or not. Once the beta period is over, the game should become widely available, for both IOS and Android platforms.
We do say should because, in case you haven’t heard the rumours, a new $40M deal between Niantic and Samsung could give the mobile company exclusive access to the Wizards Unite AR Game. You can read more on this on our post: Did Samsung call dibs on Wizards Unite?
The information on the Play Store pre-registration page indicates there will be a beta, and that they might choose beta testers from those users who pre-registered for the game.
Brand New Tech
While things have been mostly silent in the Wizards Unite AR Game front, Niantic has recently given us a glimpse of some really interesting developments they have been working on. Namely, Multiplayer AR.
Duelling has always been a big part of the Harry Potter world. Whether it is simply training or a fight to survive, every spell and curse Hogwarts students have learnt can be used as a tool or weapon against one another. Now it seems that aspect of the wizarding world might, too, be incorporated into the game.
Check out Niantic’s amazing demo videos and our take on them: AR Game News: Is multiplayer duelling on its way?
We have since found out that these new AW developments work on 5G networks. The technology isn’t there yet, so Wizards Unite will be perfectly compatible with 4G. We will have to wait some time still Check out what the Quibbler has to say about this here: The Muggle Cover-UP: 5G and low latency. And here you can read our opinion on buying a 5G-compatible phone.
The WU Logo
There has been very little information officially released, although the minds behind the game do enjoy dropping a clue here and there to keep us all guessing.
We have a recent post dedicated exclusively to the logo and all the little details it hides.
Basically, the logo seems to link the original books and films to the new series: Fantastic Beasts. The three wands that unite to form the letter A clearly belong to the Golden Trio. Meanwhile, the S uses the same font as the Fantastic Beasts logo does. We can also see a beastly scratch here and there.
At the same time they released the logo, the game developers also confirmed the released date was pushed back to “2019”
The Official website
The Wizards Unite AR Game also has an official website of their own. You can check out the site to enlist here.
The fantastic Muggle-proof intro quickly conveys a sense of urgency and shows the Magic Exposure Threat Level clock is set to Danger. As you can see on the second image, the threat level has increased since the Niffler broke loose this February.
The Trailer Videos
Wizards Unite has recently released three trailer videos.
The second shows riderless Nimbus 2000 zooming erratically down a deserted motorway in a Muggle area. Our Daily Prophet post covered the video and the Ministry PSA here: Nimbus Video: Riderless Brooms in the Muggle world.
They also published a theory about the cause of the incident itself: Nimbus Incident: are the Potter Boys behind it?
The footage gives a broad sense of what the game might be like, although only just enough to pique our interest and keep us guessing.
**UPDATE** The WU Gameplay
On March 11, 2019 Niantic and Warner Bros released through a series of gaming and technology-centred websites actual game footage. If you want to know all about the tree professions, the Fortresses and other locations, Foundables and their Confoundables and much more, check out our Wizards Unite Gameplay Guide. Here we will delve deep into every detail from the new footage to understand how Wizards Unite will work, and what it has to offer.
Wizards Unite Speculation
With so little information about the game released so far, all we can do is look at what the company has done before and the little hints from the official website, and go from there.
The first thing to note is that the game will not be set at Hogwarts or seemingly during any witch or wizard’s formative years. It will probably take place in Muggle areas.
This could mean that the game might not split players into Houses.
There has been some speculation that perhaps we will be able to ‘make a career’ out of our time in the Task Force. This could mean we would be teamed by profession or interests instead of traditional Houses.
Professions and Abilities
There are so many professions in the wizarding world to choose from. Just within the Ministry we can find a wide array.
We could perhaps focus on Magizoology and on the creatures and beasts loose in the Muggle world. Or be Aurors instead, searching for clues that would lead us to the wrong-doers behind The Calamity. We could liaison with other magical governments to help control this world-wide event. In fact, we could even be Obliviators tasked with cleaning up the mess because, as we all know, a happy Muggle is an oblivious Muggle.
Some speculation even points at the possibility of mastering types of magic instead, perhaps searching for rare plants and herbs to make potions, learning spells and breaking curses, or even becoming a Master Duellists like Professor Flitwick.
The Calamity clearly affects the Muggle world primarily, so it is safe to assume that is where the game will take place. Which is a good thing, because here at Accio Wizards Unite we can’t remember exactly which brick opens the way to Diagon Alley.
Both all three videos seem to take place in rather normal-looking Muggle areas.
The Nimbus 2000 are flying riderless down a Muggle motorway, the Task Force witch catches the Snitch in an alley (and leaves behind a recruitment poster we certainly hope was Muggle-proof) and the rogue Niffler made it int a Muggle Arcade, much to the amusement of a group of young children.
Furthermore, there seems to be at least some logic behind The Calamity.
The official information accompanying the Nimbus video suggests these brooms ‘may split up in search of their natural sporting habitat,’ and that we should ‘keep an eye out around Muggle sport stadiums.‘
Perhaps beasts will tend to go to parks and forests, while water-dwelling creatures might appear near lakes or rivers. The Niffler most certainly went after all the shinies. If you don’t believe us you can see what it did to WUtubers for yourself.
Chaos-seeking Quidditch balls, like the Snitch or the Bludgers, might show up in populated areas, where they can cause the most damage, so remember not to leave your Beater’s bat at home.
A hint into Gameplay?
Take a close look at the Niffler footage, as well as the Nimbus trailer released last year. You might find some similarities.
On both videos, when it cuts to the drawn image of the trace, you can see a trace on the picture. Let’s have a look:
The lines over the Niffler resemble the shape of the letter ‘e’. But the lines over the Nimbus are two half-circles. This seems to be a trace of the wand movement needed to stop or capture these rogue objects or beasts. So perhaps, even though it seems we haven’t seen anything specific about the game, they have shown us just the smallest glimpse into how it might work.
One thing is for sure, though. We are definitely getting fantastic beasts as part of the Wizards Unite experience. Will this include magical pets?
The Long Wait
A little something to scratch that itch
While we not-so-patiently wait for the game’s release, there are a few things we can do to brush up on our knowledge and get ready to save the wizarding world when the time finally comes.
Join Accio Wizards Unite
Here, you can get the latest game-related news. At the same time, you can enjoy some interesting, if sometimes a little quirky or sensationalist, articles from The Daily Prophet and The Quibbler.
Our site is still growing and will offer more download links, maps and other in-game resources once the game is released. In the meantime, it is still a perfect place to meet other players and share your experiences –and wacky theories- with like-minded people.
Try other Official Potter-verse games
Hogwarts Mysteries is an entertaining (and perhaps slightly addictive) game that lets you relive those magical years at Hogwarts. You get to create your own character, join a House and go on adventures. You can attend classes, make friends, and even participate in some amazing Duelling Club events. Check out the official site here.
Fantastic beasts: Cases of the Wizarding World. As a member of the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures department, you will go through different scenes and find hidden clues and objects. These will help you identify and stop whatever creature is responsible for the chaos and destruction. You can check this one out here.
Reread the original books
(Yes, all of them)
Another great way to make the wait more bearable might be to go back to the books. They are what made many of us fall in love with the wizarding world.
You could start off with the original, seven-book Harry Potter series.
- Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone
The one where Harry can’t tell there’s something weird about Quirrell’s turban.
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
The one where they have to follow the spiders instead of the butterflies.
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
The one where no one notices the Peter Pettigrew tag next to the Ron Weasley tag in the Marauder’s map all year.
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
The one where Hermione gets a date and Ron ruins the night (and his robes)
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
The one where Ron shows he has the emotional range of a teaspoon.
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
The one where the trio doesn’t recognise their professor’s handwriting after six years of lessons.
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
The one where they go camping and then everyone dies.
And the ones that came next
And although this one wasn’t written by J.K. Rowling herself, the book is considered part of the Harry Potter Canon, so:
8. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
The one where we find out Voldemort liked to play “Hide the Wand”
The Hogwarts Library books are the perfect way to continue. The bundle includes:
- Quidditch Through the Ages
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
- The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
Next would be the Pottermore Presents books, written by J.K. Rowling but available only as e-books. This bundle consists of:
- Short Stories from Hogwarts of Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies
- Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeist
- Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide
Lastly we have two original screenplays, also written by J.K. Rowling and made into motion pictures.
- Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
The one where they can’t keep track of a dangerous Niffler and chaos ensues
- Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
The one where they can’t keep track of a dangerous prisoner and chaos ensues
Binge the films
(Yes, all of them)
Perhaps you don’t feel like reading through your entire Harry Potter collection, or simply don’t have the time. In that case, you can always spend a lazy winter afternoon (or four) sitting at the sofa, drinking Butterbeer (or Ogden’s Olde Fire Whiskey) and enjoying the magic of the films.
